Do you constantly get "urgent
requests" from your boss? Do you regularly work late?
Do a lot of people stop at your desk with requests? Don't
panic! Here is some advice to help.
1) Double-check the level of importance of any job so that
you can prioritise
urgent tasks.
2) Delegate
if possible. Give work to colleagues who are less busy.
3) Tell people when you are available
to see them. Close the door at other times to make it clear
that you are busy.
4) Identify times when you work best and schedule
important activities, meetings or projects for then.
5) Avoid jumping from one project to another. If you do,
by the end of the day you will have worked on a number of
projects but completed none. Focus on one project at a time
until it is done.
6) Increase your typing
speed. It will help you to work smarter and faster.
7) Improve your computer software and make sure you know
how to use it. Ask your boss for a training course if necessary.
8) Be confident and assertive.
Don't be afraid to say "No!"
