Colin Benn

Name: Colin Benn
Email: colin@engatox.demon.co.uk
Age: 50

I'm a linguist in the sense that I am fascinated by ideas and the words people use to express them. When I travel I always try to learn part of the language of each country I visit. It's a way for me to understand the thinking behind different cultures and how those people view the world. So languages for me are not academic subjects, but practical communication tools.

I have been providing English training for professionals since 1986. I conduct audits for companies, provide in-company training and action training. I work with managers from all over the world. They teach me about their work and I teach them the practical language and communication skills they need. My experience has taught me that, given the right type of training, everyone can learn to communicate successfully in a
foreign language.

Paul Dummett

Name: Paul Dummett
Email: paul@engatox.demon.co.uk
Age: 47

I worked as a teacher and writer and then as a director of another language school before we set up our own school, English @ Oxford. I love language teaching and writing and on-line learning gives me a chance to combine both these and to play at being a journalist a bit. I feel very lucky to live in Oxford, which is a beautiful city, and to bring up our three daughters here. My ambition is to be able to use our skills for a charitable cause. There are a lot of people who would love to learn English but can't afford it.

Jane Moorman

Name: Jane Moorman
Email: jane@engatox.demon.co.uk
Age: 45

I studied languages and translation and have worked in English language teaching for 15 years. My interest lies in enabling people to communicate more effectively and to enjoy the experience at the same time! I worked in several schools in Oxford before joining the English @ Oxford team and now divide my time between teaching here and in Paris. Teaching English provides a wonderful insight into other cultures and languages and so is very rewarding. Many people feel nervous about learning to communicate in another language and it's our aim to give people the confidence they need to use English in their work and everyday lives.

Qualifications: BA Hons Modern Languages, University of Westminster
MA Translation Studies, University of Surrey
RSA Dip TEFL
